William J. Garces, Esq.

Founding Partner

Born in Camagüey, Cuba, Mr. Garces came to the United States at age three and to New Jersey in 1962, where his father, a veterinarian in Cuba, started over cleaning animal cages until he learned English and passed the national boards. That experience shaped the firm: Mr. Garces founded it to serve working-class clients, many of them Spanish speakers, and built it on the idea that the firm should be its clients’ attorney for life.

B.A., Rutgers University–New Brunswick (1981), political science and American history; J.D., Rutgers University School of Law (1984). Admitted in New Jersey and to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. His practice includes personal injury, motor vehicle and work-site accidents and premises liability.

Partner · Managing Workers’ Compensation Attorney

Mr. Grabler has more than 40 years of trial experience and devotes his practice almost entirely to injured workers. When a truck crash happens on the job, his side of the firm handles the workers’ compensation claim that runs alongside the injury case, so the two are coordinated rather than fought separately.

B.A., Rutgers University; J.D., Western New England College School of Law. Admitted in New Jersey. Member, New Jersey Advisory Council on Safety & Health. Active in community outreach and youth athletic programs in Edison Township, and a longtime Rutgers basketball and football season-ticket holder.

How we work a truck case

"We prepare for trial from the start, which creates leverage with trucking companies and their insurers." In practice that means the investigation begins the week we are retained, not the month before a filing deadline: the police report is ordered from the right agency, preservation letters go to the carrier for its electronic logs, black-box data, dashcam, maintenance and driver files, and the real carrier, broker and insurer are identified from the report's carrier boxes rather than the name painted on the door.

Every client has a direct line to the people handling the file. If you need immediate help our attorneys can come to you.

What's hard to do alone

A Middlesex truck case runs on three tracks at once, and each has its own custodian and clock.

  • The police and prosecutor file. State Police for the Turnpike and I-287, the town police department for Route 1, 9, 18, 130 and the county roads, and the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office on serious crashes. When charges are pending, the prosecutor controls that file.
  • The carrier's records. Driver logs, inspection reports and maintenance files that the trucking company keeps on its own retention schedule, some as short as three to six months.
  • The insurers. Your own auto policy's injury coverage (PIP), the truck's liability insurer, and sometimes an umbrella or excess carrier behind it.

One team keeps all three moving so that nothing expires while you recover.
